India – Rajasthan Motorcycle Tour

...Rajasthan is romantic India wrapped in gaudy royal robes. Like a microcosm of Mother India, there’s also abundant wildlife and warm people, glitz and camels, soulful music, glittering saris, tottering turbans and a surprisingly rich cuisine. A vast and wonder-laced state with treasures more sublime than those of fable, the Land of the Kings paints a bold image. Compiling a must-see list in Rajasthan can cripple the fussy traveller: Meherangarh looming over bright blue Jodhpur the giant gold sandcastle at Jaisalmer, the palaces and pageantry of Udaipur,... the storybook whimsy of Bundi and the havelis sprinkled through Shekavati – see them all, and you’ll see a month fly by ...

DAY THE MAHARAJA - TOUR
Airport pick-up and  bus ride to our Hotel in Mandawa, 250km form Delhi.
After a briefing on the Enfield motorcycles and the peculiarities of the traffic in India we explore Shekhavati region and it´s havelis (traditional, ornately decorated residences)
Further into Thar Desert, to Bikaner. Colourful Basars are waiting to be explored.
On the road to Jaisalmer we stop at Kichan, to visit a Colony of "Demoiselle Cranes".
Like a fairy tale out of "1001 Nights" the "Golden City" Jaisalmer appears in the desert. For a few hours we trade our "Bullets" for Camels.
We cruise to Jodhpur. The "Blue City" with its mighty Merhangarh Fort.
A relaxed ride on small roads takes us to Luni where we stay at the Fort that´s been converted into an heritage hotel.
On our way to today's Hotel, the Royal Castle in Ghanerao, we stop at the marvelous Jain Temple in Ranakpur.
Without doubt the best day on our bikes. Cruising trough the Aravalli mountains and with a stop at the breathtaking Kumbalgarh Fort we make our way to ...
..Udaipur the "Venice of the East". A day to relax and to enjoy the city.
On roads that hardly see tourists me move towards the tiny village of Bambora where we stay once more in ancient walls...
...further along Rajasthan´s backroads we ride to Bassi.
Another juwel in the crown on this tour. Bundi is a beautiful, non-touristy step back in time.
Today we reach Swai Madhopur and...
...Ranthampore National Park, abundant wildlife and maybe a Tiger ?
Again rural India and at the end a visit of the Keoladeo Bird Sanctuary in Bharatpur. Our last day on the Enfield´s.
The "Ghost Town" Fathepur Sikri and a highlight of the tour, the Taj Mahal, the monument of love. A Bus and the "Grand Trunk Road" leads us back to Delhi.
Flight back home and farewell to the "Land of the Maharajas".
