ITinerary

Day Description
Day 1 Begin your adventure with arrival in the vibrant city of Chengdu, China. After a short stopover, you will fly on to the mystical city of Lhasa, Tibet. From the airport, you will be taken to your hotel, which involves a 90 km bus ride. In the afternoon, acclimatize to the high altitude of 3600m with a gentle walk through the old town surrounding the Jokhang Temple, and take in your first impressions of the deep faith of the Tibetan people.
Day 2 Obtain your Chinese driving license, preparing you for the coming days. Explore the enchanting city of Lhasa, starting with the majestic Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama. Continue your exploration at the sacred Jokhang Temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet, followed by an evening stroll around the illuminated Potala Palace. Visit either the Sera or Drepung Monastery, and end your day with a leisurely walk through Barkhor Street, a bustling market and pilgrimage route.
Day 3 Embark on a scenic drive from Lhasa to Gyantse, starting with a 70 km gravel road to the Yarlung Tsangpo River, then ascend to the Kamba La Pass (4800m) for breathtaking views over Yamdrok Lake. Continue with impressive vistas until you reach Gyantse. Admire the unique architecture of the Gyantse Kumbum, a multi-storied chapel filled with exquisite murals and statues.
Day 4 Travel from Gyantse to Shigatse, and then onward to Shegar, along the Shanghai-Kathmandu Highway. Cross the Gyatso Pass (5200m) with possible views of Mt. Everest and Cho Oyu.
Day 5 From Shegar, continue to the Everest Base Camp and then to Lao Tingri. Experience a close-up view of Everest, starting early for clear sights. Cross a 5000m high pass with panoramas of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Xishapangma, and Cho Oyu. Visit the Rongbuk Monastery and Everest Base Camp, with evening views of Everest and Cho Oyu from your hotel.
Day 6 & 7 From Lao Tingri, begin your journey to Mount Kailash, with an overnight stay in Saga. Accommodations may be basic as you drive along gravel roads past Lake Pelkhu Tso. Expect a long driving day to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar through smooth roads and Tibetan grasslands, encountering nomads and yak herds along the way.
Day 8, 9, 10 Experience the Saga Dawa Festival, the largest religious festival in Tibet at Mount Kailash. Join thousands of pilgrims in traditional attire participating in rituals at the base of the sacred mountain. Travel from Kailash to the ancient Guge Kingdom, visit Thirtapuri and the Sutlej Canyon, with possible views of the Indian Himalayas. Reserve days to enjoy the landscapes, visit Tholing Monastery, one of the few remnants of the ancient Guge Kingdom.
Day 11 Drive back to Saga, where you can relax and reflect on your journey so far.
Day 12 Travel to Shigatse, Tibet’s second-largest city. Visit the magnificent Tashilhunpo Monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama, and explore its grand halls and courtyards.
Day 13 Head back to Lhasa for the final leg of your journey. Use your free time to explore remaining sights, indulge in last-minute shopping, or simply soak in the vibrant atmosphere of the city.
Day 14 Bid farewell to the enchanting land of Tibet. Transfer to the airport for your flight back to Chengdu, from where you will take your international flight home, carrying memories of an unforgettable adventure across Tibet.
