Motorcycle adventures in Nepal — From Kathmandu to the hidden kingdom of Mustang This extraordinary motorcycle tour through Nepal starts in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital, which is located in a valley at the foot of the Himalayas. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in the lively Thamel district.
To get some cultural momentum, we'll visit medieval Durbar Square — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and architectural gem that is deeply rooted in Nepal's history. We then drive in a comfortable vehicle for around three hours to Nuwakot, where our motorbikes are already waiting for us. We start the trip with a short warm-up (yes, left-hand traffic!) and take time to make individual adjustments. We spend the night in a cozy nature resort — the perfect place to settle in. Our main destination is Mustang, also known as the Kingdom of Lo — a region full of myth, spirituality, and strong Tibetan influence. Strategically located on the ancient trade route between Tibet and India, Mustang was a cultural and economic center for centuries. Until 18.
In the 19th century, it remained an independent kingdom before it was incorporated into Nepal. Yet the Tibetan Buddhist heritage is still very much alive — in language, architecture and spiritual atmosphere. The last king of Mustang, Jigme Dorje Palbar Bista, was a revered figure until the monarchy was officially abolished in 2008. Despite political change, Mustang's cultural identity has remained intact to this day. Riding through this region
